Part of our primary mission since we conceived the farm enterprise was to create a welcoming place for people to get out away from the normal. So come to the country and hike in the woods or read a book by the stream. Take your out of town guests here for a picnic instead of the mall or that cookie cutter chain store they can go to at home. We have a farm open house the second Saturday of every month during the growing season. It is geared so that individuals and small groups can come participate in a full-immersion farm experience. Some days we walk the woods gathering paw paws, harness the draft horses, or just spend time in the vegetable gardens. Other times we are demonstrating tool and implement use, churning butter, or just eating a lot. Every once in a while we don’t do anything extremely productive and get in some R&R cooking out, fishing, or sitting around on the porch having a cool drink (or two). The pot luck dinner on Saturday afternoon is probably my favorite time.
